THE RURAL COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION GRANT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Rural Communities Foundation (RCF) announced that four Alberta communities will be sharing in a $100,000 grant this year. The Foundation is committed to giving $500,000 over five years to rural Alberta to improve the sustainability of farmers and ranchers in Alberta. Communities are encouraged to apply for projects that enrich education, recreation and culture.

RCF’s Board Chair, Harvey Hagman, made the announcement last week, but he says it was not an easy decision. “There were many strong applicants this year, and the judges had difficulty narrowing the choices to just four winners,” said Hagman. “Through these applications, we saw the strength of rural communities and the commitment by volunteers to keep rural communities sustainable.” The four communities that will share $100,000 in RCF funding are Dunmore, Foremost, Grimshaw and Stettler.

RCF was created in 2014 as a way to distribute archived equity funds back into rural communities where UFA has a presence. UFA has always given back to its members, and the RCF is just one more way the Co-operative supports rural communities.
