Who We Are

We've always been there for you.

UFA was founded in 1909 as a movement by Western Canadian farmers, for Western Canadian farmers. Since then, we've grown into one of Canada's largest and most progressive agricultural co-operatives, offering the products, services and support that our 127,000+ members need to build, grow and succeed.

Today, we continue the movement started over a century ago by tirelessly serving and advocating for our members. And while our roots will always be in agriculture, we're proud to support the people, industries and communities that drive Western Canada's economy. In other words, we're for you.

We're here for you.

We're for your livelihood. One of UFA's founding principles was to give farmers, their families and their communities a say on the policies that affect them most. After all, UFA was once a political party that even formed government for 14 years. Today, it is in this spirit that we advocate for our members and their interests at all levels of government, ensuring they get a seat at the table.

We're for your community. It's always been one of UFA's priorities to be a good neighbour. Because we don't just do business in rural communities - we also live in them. Through the UFA Agricultural Community Foundation, we support programs and events that honour the traditions and culture of rural Western Canada with the goal of preserving them for future generations.

We're inspired by the stories of our members.

Mike Williams

Mike's a busy guy these days. Aside from his family obligations and tending to his goats, cows, pigs, and chickens, he's got his hands full with the latest addition to his farm: a "U-Pick" pumpkin operation with over 24 varieties of pumpkins.

"We sell about 3,000 pumpkins per year to customers from all over Alberta" says Mike, who grew up on a dairy farm and has been heading his current operation for 14 years. "Farming is not a 9-5 job. My day doesn't end until the work is done."

And if you didn't think he was busy enough, Mike's also a full-time mechanic and runs his own engraving business. "This year I actually laser-engraved the ear tags for our new babies. It's one of my favourite parts of farming-all the new babies come spring time. It's better than Christmas for us!"
