Today is Farmer's Day in Alberta, a day to celebrate the farmers and ranchers who grow our food. This year's commemorative day is extra special because we have some exciting news to share with our members and customers! We are pleased to introduce the newly created UFA Agricultural Community Foundation (UFA ACF). The UFA ACF is dedicated to supporting projects that enrich education, recreation and culture for the betterment of agricultural communities.
"UFA has a long history of giving back to our members and their communities. The UFA ACF will help further enrich these communities by supporting impactful projects" said UFA ACF Advisory Board Chair, Jennifer Wood.
In 2019, UFA introduced the Rural Communities Foundation (RCF) where $500,000 in funding was provided over five years to rural community capital projects. We've reaffirmed our commitment to this grant program, with $100,000 in funding grants available in 2024 through the new UFA ACF.
"We will be building on the success of the Rural Communities Foundation," says Kimberly MacDonald, UFA Manager, Community Investment. "The continuation of the grant program is only one part of the new foundation. We will be announcing further components that will make up the new ACF in the near future that we're really excited about!"
Charitable and non-profit organizations, along with community service-oriented co-operatives, are invited to apply for a minimum of $10,000 up to a total of $100,000 for capital projects that support recreational, educational and cultural facilities and programs, and enrich the rural life of agricultural, farming and ranching communities.
