Proudly funding The Simpson Centre at the University of Calgary
UFA and the Rural Communities Foundation (RCF) are proud to support the growth and sustainability of agri-food and agri-business, especially in Western Canada, through a 4-year funding commitment. The Simpson Centre, housed at the University of Calgary's School of Public Policy, focuses on numerous social and economic factors that facilitate the success of the agriculture industry. As a Canadian agricultural policy research centre, The Simpson Centre's mission is to strengthen and support Canada's agriculture sectors through focused, evidence-based, practical policy analysis on trade, the environment and innovation.
"The Simpson Centre's role is to be a neutral and objective institute that takes on the challenging questions in agriculture today, which frankly are the challenging questions that the world faces around food security and sustainability, environmental challenges and climate change. An organization that has the expertise to take on these questions is a natural fit for UFA," says Scott Bolton, President and CEO at UFA.
The funding provided by UFA and RCF has supported the development of the Public Education Series, a series of webinars focused on topics ranging from the Carbon Program to regenerative agriculture. By supporting Simpson Centre and their initiatives, UFA and RCF are helping open up discussion on the importance of agriculture and food sustainability today, and for generations to come.
