Workplace Injuries - Day of Mourning

Today, April 28, has been designated the Day of Mourning across Canada. It's a time when workers, families, employers and others come together to honour the memories of those Canadian workers who have lost their lives or suffered injury or illness due to workplace-related incidents.

This day is significant not just for those directly affected by workplace tragedies, but for all of us who go to work every day. It serves as a reminder of the inherent dangers and risks that come with many jobs, and the importance of taking every possible precaution to ensure our safety and well-being.

UFA is taking the Day of Mourning as an important opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to our own workplace practices and culture. Whether our workplace is in the field or on the road, it reminds us that we all have a responsibility to create a safe and healthy work environment, and to speak up when we see something that could potentially put ourselves or our colleagues in harm's way.

As a co-operative, we value the safety and well-being of our members, customers and employees above all else. We recognize that workplace incidents not only affect the physical health and safety of workers, but also their mental and emotional well-being. That's why we are committed to creating a safe and healthy work environment for everyone.
