Remembrance Day – Lest we Forget

On Remembrance Day we honour those who gave their lives to serve our country. Tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada's Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. On November 11th, we pause to reflect with all Canadians in collective Remembrance.

Poppy Fund

As one of the oldest and largest co-operatives in Canada, we believe that in order to be part of the present and future, we need to honour our past. We believe in paying homage to those who have dedicated themselves to service and who have sacrificed for our freedoms. The Poppy is the national emblem of supreme sacrifice and the Royal Canadian Legion holds their annual Poppy Campaign to support Veterans and their families. Poppies are distributed freely to all those who wish to wear one, but donations are always gratefully accepted. If you are interested in donating, please visit the Donate to the Poppy Fund (legion.ca) webpage to learn more.

This Remembrance Day we encourage everyone in the communities we serve, to wear a Poppy. Our UFA representatives have invited their local Legion Branches to bring their Poppy Box Campaign into their Farm & Ranch Supply stores and UFA Petroleum Agencies.

Find Your Local Remembrance Day Ceremony

Attending a Remembrance Day Ceremony is a memorable occasion to honour our Veterans. You can find local ceremonies listed here: Remembrance Day Ceremonies (legion.ca)

Finally, the Legion reminds us that Remembrance is truly a year-long commitment. November 11th is a special day to honour those memories and sacrifices but there are numerous other ways to say thank you. Visit their Remembrance all year (legion.ca) webpage.

We know there is strength in numbers, and we are proud to support Remembrance Day initiatives across the province. On Saturday, November 11th, 2023, UFA locations will be closed in reverence to those who have served and providing our team with the opportunity to take the time to pause and reflect, however they personally choose to do so. At UFA we believe the dream of peace is only realized when we pause to remember.
